Despite two devastating earthquakes, widespread political corruption, severe economic instability, and the continuing risk of persecution against political opponents, the United States government is asking the Supreme Court to deny Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans.
TPS is intended to protect people who cannot safely return to their country because of extraordinary and dangerous conditions. Venezuela plainly meets that standard. Ending protection under these circumstances is neither humane nor consistent with the purpose of the law.
